Appreciation

Standard

I’d like to thank Dr. Pickens for her support and encouragement through my first graduate-level course. I would also like to thank Lisa and Shawna for their comments and posts that exposed personal experiences and provided thoughtful responses to assignments.

As inundated as our districts have become with demanding standards, grueling curriculum, and needier children, it is essential to our children’s success that we remember that they are children and their childhood is short and it is precious.

I love this quote. I think it is a perfect simile to the vast benefits of play to a child’s development.

The following is a video clip of Rita Pierson and speaks to the importance of fostering relationships with children. Before we teach children, we must reach them on a personal, emotional, and relational level.

  2. Renee,
Those are amazing quotes. I truly love them and live by them. Wow! that video clip. I was standing, cheering and crying all at the same time. My degree from Walden is going to be in Early Education, Teaching Adults Early Childhood. I strive to be able to share knowledge and articulate my passion for children and education half as well as she does.
